The flat and thin edge makes it great for stirring, scrapping, and chopping almost anything. I like that, because it is made of wood, it will not ruin your expensive non-stick pots and pans. To maintain the integrity of the olive wood, I recommend washing it by hand with a mild soap and treating it with olive oil every so often. This is a wonderful and striking addition to my kitchen utensils and I highly recommend!
